Jill James - About me
I've been writing for as long as I can remember. I started reading at 2 1/2 years old. I'm sure I was writing soon after. In the fifth grade I had a wonderful teacher, Katherine Whitaker. She loved writing and fostered a love for it in all her students. Each week we had to write a story. She gave us a title and we had to go with it. My most vivid memory is of the "Runaway Chevrolet". I loved that story. All about a little blue chevy. A happy car, but his owner painted him red. He was not happy so he ran away, had terrible adventures, and ended up in a junk yard until his old owner found him, restored him, and made him happy again.
About 3 years ago I decided to get serious about my writing. With the wonders of the internet I discovered Club 100 Writers and RWA National. It opened a whole new world for me. Now I didn't have only myself to talk to about plots, characters, and the dreaded sagging middle. There were people out there who understood me.
Last year, with the help of a fellow writer, I helped found the Black Diamonds Chapter of RWA, went to a National Conference, and completed my second manuscript.
